The 4 up TT, the 50 and broad haven

Always an interesting event this one and we managed to get the band back together from last year. We are all faster than last year and were the ‘scratch team’

I dont want to labour a point and i may have mentioned it once or twice but things havent been going too well for me so far this year on a personal level . But the results were still coming. I was disappointed to be beaten by NB at the 50 mtt last week but he won it fair and square. We nearly got the team prize but the velo were just too strong. I still went under 2 hours. And am about a minute faster over ten with little speed work so things are going in the right direction. Being an emotional retard has become standard operating procedure for me throughout this entire IM journey. I seem to lurch from one emotional cataclysm to the next with no time to draw breath

So standard operating procedure.

I went up to the 50 with Rob and Roscoe. I do like Rob . Now there’s a man who like s a contentious statement as much as me. Got to know Roscoe a bit better too. Both tidy boys and although going into this race anyone couldve beaten anyone we all got on well. Well , when i say well i droned on about my life story they thankfully dozed on a subject matter that would put a glass eye to sleep.The velo had a top set up in the car park and all the boys were there next to the colemans camper 5 or 6 turbo trainers set up, All pretty cool. The race started off ok the first lap i was going well , not great but it felt slower than last year. As i went passed the start fuck me Rob was just off. I really didnt want Rob chasing me for the next two laps but there he was. Shit. I dont know how he felt about it but in our own little battle it felt gladiatorial. 2nd lap as i turn there is Mr Dye hot on my heels. Shit. up the dual carriageway all i need now was NB to turn up. As i caught my 12 min man Keiron just fucking flew over the top of both of us. Perspective. Ha. fair enough.

fought hard for the last 10 and was cooked .power was similar to last year although FTP is higher. Rob had lost a bit of time on me in his second lap but he still had time to make that up in his last. I got beaten by NB, Lukey Cornish by a handfull of seconds and DC by a handful of mins. It may have been wishful thinking but wouldve liked to have got closer to Dan but he’s just too good. Although i will take this opportunity to remind him i did beat him in his second foray into the triathlon world when i won fishguard sprint the week or so before. All be it by seconds. Ryan never fails to impress when he did fishguard in his speedos just to piss his wife off. Now i do like Ryan but i never want to see him running towards me in a pair of speedos and a crop top grinning like a loon ever again.

So the 4 up . the velos looked hard to beat and it turns out they were. DC, JR, WH, MH . formidable short distance athletes . We went hard with no fuck ups this year and went slower still failing to crack 50 mins . 50 mins 35 secs i think we did. 29.8 miles an hr. The velo just dipped under the 50 min mark closely followed by the Ajax. Who were bitching about some shit or other. The result sheet still looked the same to me.The Ajax did win the female team although by the way the male team were carrying on it was difficult to tell which was which. We were disappointed but there you go, they were better.

I tried to get into Broad haven the following week to no avail. that turned into a difficult day. Rode out there with Brazier,Fabulous and heather . Fabulous did me the massive favour of telling JR that after sweden i was gunning for the vets title off Will. I have never said that and will has the measure of me over that distance. Not like Fab to shoot his mouth off on my behalf

Although to be fair there was a disturbance at the shop and fab backed it up with a couple of handy right crosses. Not to be underestimated.

I did have a laugh with Fab at the expo at the long course and have entered the cotswolds classic in august with him . So i’m sure there will be some misadventures there too
