what goes on tour doesn’t stay on tour especially when you phone me from Barcelona at 4 in the morning

So the boys are all off to a half ironman in Barcelona. there’s been a lot of speculation on this one on who will win it. The contenders are Fabulous,Escobar,Long neck, the mighty luger and an outside bet steve ‘the power’ taylor.Mike is there too. Fab has been on fire in the pool his bike is good he still wont run. His head ,however is ,still a mess. Steve the power has been smashing the tts , rob and shane have been going well but early season form of last year has evaded them. So its anybodies race. So the first night. Have a quiet one isnt it and what could be quieter than a nice comfy game of bingo . That is, besides, what most people go to barcelona for. So one pint turns into 10. My phone , along with a few others in the shire goes off at 4 in the morning and its a very chipper fabulous on the line talking 8 shades of incoherent bollocks. Words coming out of him like bullets from an machine gun. Seems he won the bingo at least. with a laugh a wave a smile hello and he’s gone. I just laughed and laughed. We all take this sport too seriously most of the time and it was good to hear the boys had gone, well bananas basically. I speak to fab later and he tells me he’s on a roll over hasnt slept and went out and smashed 30 miles out on the bike. With what is most definitely still coursing through his veins, i’m not fucking surprised.

What goes up however must come down and it was a very sorry shower the following day with race day 48 hrs away.fabulous was not alone in this escapade Although i would bet my mortgage he was the instigator.He’s a ‘proper bad ass’ to quote laura Chapman when he gets going.

Fab was last seen rowing an 8 foot dory out of the harbour wearing an arab headress muttering something about absolution and 2000 years of Christendom. Heading for turkey apparently where he has sold himself in to the sex trade and can be seen plying his wears in the more down market bazaars of Ankara.

It has been a big weekend the slateman , llanelli sprint, barcelona (whats left of it) and last but not least the fishguard Gotri.

I won the gotri outright. My first tri win. I was very pleased with that but more pleased with the time only person to go under the hour in difficult conditions. A lot learnt. My new race shoes need to be put on before getting on the bike. I was 2 miles into the bike before i got them on properly. The spacing s on the 808 are different to the disc and i couldnt get 10th which was a problem coming down the hill to goodwick. The colemans smashed it. Picking up 3 prizes Dan,Jill and Paul .I narrowly beat Dan overall and will be interesting to see our splits later. Rode home.

It seems Fabulous thought better of his most recent career move and did the half IM after all. It looks like it was a close finish with escobar coming out on top, long neck then a born again fabulous who was racing for JC. The swim looks like it was a toughie.
