Pembrokeshire Triathlon Camp
Triathlon Training Blog, Wednesday, February 5th, 2014Blowing a bit of a mad one when i got home from work ,been raining on and off all day. Couldnt face 2 hours on the rollers so against my better judgment headed out. Nerve wracking, white knuckle ride. never gripped the bars so tight. Anyway , got 32 miles in in the dark. found a nice sheltered loop around the stackpole woods did it twice. Was a bit like sailing a yacht that is going too fast. Constant need to slow down. Cant let the bike have its head on the lanes in the dark. Not sure how much benefit i gained from a training perspective. Legs felt unresponsive. Any way as i came up to the house the range started firing. The flares were hardly making it into the air. it was pandemonium.Lit flares burning at a million degrees centigrade landing all around, on cars, on houses on would be IM triathletes standing in the dark. Phoned the range and mentioned that i saw a potential problem with prolonging this activity. It was like…..a war zone!!!! Someone was going to lose an eye. Still i guess thats the point.
