didnt swim this morning after my super impressive butterfly set last night. Which left the rollers tonight. On the felt all new machine. Yet another power meter, chainset this time. Electronic gears etc etc etc.

Bike felt pretty good, saddle slighty low , shorter crank arms on this one 165 mm. As i heard someone mutter once muffled that they might be better, i missed the rest of the conversation as i was too busy on ebay buying a set. sure it wasnt relevant.

Legs not feeling a million dollars as yesterdays triple set has left some residual fatigue in me poor pins. Fabulous has shaved his legs i noticed yesterday. Bit early for that sort of business. unless of course you like it. which considering there is no KQ scale of sexual deviancy for fab he probably loves it and a whole lot more. I spend a lot of time not trying to think about it and never turn your back on him……ever

Anyway Di 2 gears took a bit of getting used to. like a disco on the handlebars with red and green lights flashing all over the shop as i successfully rewrite the manual on how not to do it……..again.

Trainer road is a good bit of software and u will push yourself on it as the laptop stares at you in silent accusation when your little yellow ‘effort’ line drops below the bar graph on the screen. Tonight matthew i’m going to bathe in a sea of agony and sweat so much you wont be able to tell if i’ve just had a shower or pissed myself doing a threshold set from the trainer road library of fuck yourself up how much do u want it repertoire.

A simulation of an hour and ten min road race , with hill sprints and KOM climbs. I do find these hard. I wear my special pink descente shorts for these workouts in the main corridor of the house . the lap top on a desk and chair like a clapping monkey dancing to itunes on crystal meths.

The power was up thank fuck. Who cares if its another powermeter i’ll keep changing them till they give me the reading i want. accuracy ?? i dont care too much about that. Hit your numbers .lol

The pace was achievable with the ftp set at 265watts. Now some say that the rollers do give a lower power reading than turbo and i’m comfortable with that truth. Nick said it…..once. At least thats what i think he said.

The flat out sprints power were hard to reach as i was running out of gears and sprinting on the rollers is…..an experience. And for the first time in 25 years i came off the fucking things at speed, flat out. So you are stationary doing 35 mph then you arent. I came to an abrupt halt in next doors living room. East ender s was on. Is that Danny dyer behind the bar at the queen vic. Dear Danny what have u become?Quite a meteoric fall from hollywood a lister?? The neighbours seemed quite uncomfortable with me being there. Stripped to the waist in Pink lycra shorts bathed in sweat. Me not them. That would have been weird and embarrassing .All wearing the same outfit!!!
Bless , they’ll have to get used to it of course. They only moved in Saturday.The dad seems quite highly strung .

Anyway the bike was ok and i detached myself with the help of a petrol angle grinder from next doors book shelf. that’ll need replacing i would imagine and carried on.

Finished the set with little or no more incident . The numbers looked better. 242 watts np for the hr ten.Including warm up warm down and some descents. It was basically an over and under session.

The new garmin hub speedo didnt work of course . £30 quids worth of fuck all. Almost got to the point now where i ‘ll have to read the instructions. there’s probably an ‘on’ button or something tricky like that.

comfortable truths from today. The rollers read lower power levels as once u get them going they are easy to keep on top of. . Slightly jaded, under geared on the sprints. first ride on new machine.

uncomfortable truths . power cranks tend to read slightly higher than hubs. There’s no difference between turbo and rollers the effort is the same. Being under geared yes but only for a few 30 secs sprints.
