Sat was a rest day and we won the rugby so thats all quite acceptable. Slow out of bed sunday morning on the road for about 730. To be greeted by the same weather i was hoping to avoid Saturday. Strong SW winds , surrounded by rain clouds. 5 hrs of fun fun fun. Did the IM Angle loop to get a cheeky extra 10 in before we have even started. The powertap wheel doesn’t work still ,so its not the batteries. Great.Extortionate bill from paligap coming right up. Pembroke to Tenby was joined by one Mr Nick Brown ,still suffering a bit from his cold, thank God. Tenby was lucky enough to be joined by Ollie Simon. Great. Thats my legs ripped off then. Up to Sageston where i kept the boys amused with my futile efforts by chasing down and staying behind a texaco tanker. Very irresponsible ,dont try this at home. Ollie went on to meet Keiron Davies. Good , i thought. They can tear each other to pieces. We turned left to jefferston and though that maze of b roads ended up at Templeton then onto canaston bowl. Not before one downpour had soaked us both to the skin …..and bone. My feet are now wet. 40 miles in. NB decided he didnt need this in his life right now and headed home. Up to canaston bridge . Decided i couldnt face the wind all the way to dale so baled and headed to Narberth. Picked up the IM loop again but headed on to red roses.Coming towards me going like a locomotive was , the aforementioned, Ollie and Keiron express.Keiron honestly did look like he was having the time of his life. I forget what its like to be that enchanted by life. Red roses to Pendine ,amroth ,saundersfoot, tenby to pembroke where i bumped into giffo and paul on their way to lamphey . quick hello and off again. Lower lamphey road bumped into Gareth having a stilted conversion with some guy. Think Gareth hoped the puncture would repair itself in warp speed mode as he was a very captivated audience and we certainly got the impression his new best friend didn’t interact that often. His micro pump wasn’t really doing the business (do they ever?) so i used my frame fitting pump.Out the way let the dog see the rabbit. As i unscrewed his valve cap the whole valve came out with it releasing the little air his previous 30 mins of pumping had gained him. A quizzical look spread across his face as if to say ‘is that fucked fucked or fixable’ the road to hell is paved with good intention and we both had the scottish game to get back to.How we laughed…in the rain, and the cold. Did i mention my feet were wet?I hate that. 5…well 10 , ok 15 mins we are off. said goodbye to gareth at pembroke with a laugh a wave a smile and he’s gone .not quite believing his luck that i was there to balls it up, i mean help him. The miles were starting to tell a bit now. Castlemartin straight the angle loop again. the last 10 took a bit of doing. Anyway. 98 miles in the bag. Average speed 15.9. it clicked down from 16 on the last mile i was flogged so could do nothing about that. Pleased to have got another 100 in .At 140 to 150 hr range all the way
