A new first.Slacky texted me wednesday and said we are all off for a jolly to caldey island tomorrow and have to be at saundersfoot harbour for 6am. Nice. No pool session thursday morning and a 4.45 start. Was pretty cool working on the monastery roof all day and meet a few of the locals. All very pleasant in bred munkis. Ben Childs was pretty cool, Estate manager. As was Simon the island handyman and chippys twin. Add both their IQ’s together and you get a shoe size.English, not european. Although Chippy, as random as ever quoted Keats at some point which was a bit of a show stopper. Off to see NB after , picked up skin suit and had a chat about My IM training plan. Still all bike, bike bike. Probably right, Then off to turbo. Where i picked up escobars wheel, now mine. Wasn’t feeling great and we did high cadence sets for first half. then 2 mins flat out 130 per cent FTP 2 minutes rest. First set was okish , 2nd set cooked a trainer and had to change. 3rd and 4th power was dropping and i wasn’t far behind it. Then to finish we did 10/20’s times 10. !0 secs flat out 20 secs rest i was cooked. Hopefully a result of an early start and yesterdays practice on a rest day. One interesting development today was that it turns out one MR Rob Collins used to be a world ranking fisherman. Been in fishing mags and invited to the world champs. A regular Robson Green is our ginger haired friend. I can see him with his trident spearing away. Add to that Gareth Powell’s golfing prowess. (handicapp 2 or 4) quite a talented bunch. Anyway i was fucked. So an easy day or two for me before Sunday. Got home stretched a new tub onto the 808 looked at NB’s skin suit and went to bed. Needed.
