the weekend has landed
Triathlon Training Blog, Saturday, February 28th, 2015Friday . was in two minds this morning( excluding the multiple personality disorder , not to be confused with schizophrenia which tends to kick in after the second morning crack pipe.) to run or swim. I haven’t run since sunday. So even though the velodrome is confirmed tonight a run it is. Just an easy 10 k on the treadmill 48.53. Felt ok. heart rate didnt get over 140 so well inside z2 for running. There’s some randoms there early in the morning. as you look around the room u realise you are one of them. Tragic . Even i lower the average age by 10 years in there. Good on em.
Lot of running around today. Got to see NB changed that power tap wheel to be sent away. So got a new one. Which was good of him. So find out this weekend if the old one was reading low. If it wasnt i’ve got work to do.
Drove up to the velodrome , no Tom this week, He is keen for a good performance at the Daffodil . The rain starts as soon as the race does at midday so you wont see me there. Usual luke warm greeting at the velodrome. They could all be shy or socially reticent. Or , my favourite , hate me and want me dead.Take your pick. Given my consistent social performances and knack of pissing people off i’d put a fair bit on number 3.Its a gift
Although someone did notice i had ‘KQ’ cut into my hair on the back of my head. This was done mid week by a bottle of wine and a handy hairdresser. We decided against ‘sub 10’ as at that stage it was technically more demanding. This, also seemed like an excellent idea at the time. My primary motivation for having this done was to bolster my flagging ego after a bout of self doubt and poor results. KQ stands for kona qualifier. Now, we should’ve checked the urban dictionary before we went ahead. It seems KQ is also the scale used by the powers at be to measure sexual deviancy. KQ 9 being the highest . So odd looks from social workers for the next week or so. How Cheese knew that is anyones guess
25 min warm up and my new garmin speed sensor isnt working too consistently which is something it and i have in common.I love tech. especially when it doesnt work. Which is all the time really. First part of the main set was two lines just chain ganging it and more of a slightly intense warm up. Hour gone and mainly endurance. Next set is the train, 4 on the black line like a team pursuit chasing 2 lots of 7 on the blue when they catch them the front rider on the black train pops up onto the blue and the lead rider on the blue jumps down to the black. Chance to stretch the legs. It gets faster from here on in. Next is fast group on the blue, slower group on the red. Round and round we go at warp speed. Going round is fundamental and pretty unavoidable in track racing on the plus side its difficult to get lost.Anyway i was on the front with 3 of the top ajax boys behind me. so i went hard on my pull knowing they would come through harder and i would have to continue to work to stay on the back. The coach signalled the end of your pull on the front by ringing the bell , she left me hanging there sometimes for 3 laps which was doing the job. This worked wonderfully much to everyone elses enjoyment. ……..silence tumbleweed murmur murmur discord in the pit area. …..again……as normal.
Last set was a warm down but i was having none of it and just did a 10 min interval along the boards. Again everyone loved this and the beaming faces painted their own picture at the end of the session. scowls all around.excellent. No words were exchanged and off i went. my work here done.
Was very tired on the way home and went through a well known speed trap and got flashed. Excellent
